My working pitch, so far:
She is a blank slate—raised without a name, trained in equal parts as seductress and assassin, she will take on whatever mask is necessary to fulfill her assignment. Sent now on a mission of revolutionary proportions, she is forced to improvise when ancient mysticism interferes with her master’s careful planning, taking away her only ally before they have a chance to reach their destination, leaving her alone in a foreign palace where the merchant class plots against the nobility, her royal fiancé is nothing she expected, and ears are the least the walls have. Through this, she must choose her loyalties: the master who fostered her, the nobility who unwittingly accepts her, the forgotten gods who’ve chosen her, or—least known of all—herself. |
